JOBS PLANNED FOR INDIAN RIVER COUNTY
This information is for those who missed our IRNA Luncheon on February 11, 2010. Our guest speaker was Tex Carter, Vice President, Operations for INEOS New Planet BioEnergy.
INP BioEnergy, a joint venture of INEOS Bio and New Planet Energy, is planning to build a new third generation biofuels facility in Indian River County. The facility will convert carbon based waste material into ethanol and produce clean renewable power. This is an exciting new industry with the potential for many jobs for Indian River County residents, across a wide range of skills. The process is clean, green and provides high quality fuels in place of traditional food-based ethanol products.
Tex Carter made an excellent presentation to all present. He covered a variety of topics; such as the history of the project, how feedstock is converted into ethanol, the facility to be constructed and job creation.
To make sure every one gets a complete understanding of what Mr Carter covered there will be a copy of his handout and then several websites linked to different illustrations and a video.
HANDOUT
INEOS New Planet BioEnergy
Indian River County BioEnergy Facility
INEOS New Planet (INP) BioEnergy intends to build a commercial-scale facility producing third generation biofuels and renewable power in Vero Beach, Florida.
INP BioEnergy is a joint venture of INEOS Bio and New Planet Energy.
- INEOS Bio is a division of INEOS Technologies, one of the 17 businesses of the INEOS Group, the world's third largest chemical company.
- New Planet Energy is a project development company founded to implement new technologies in waste and renewable resource industries.
The facility will be the first to use INEOS Bio's advanced BioEnergy technology, the world's leading feedstock flexible technology for production of both bioethanol and renewable power.
The INP BioEnergy facility in Indian River County will produce 8 million gallons of third generation bioethanol per year from renewable biomass, including yard, wood and vegetative wastes.
The facility will also produce clean renewable power for export to the Florida market.
INP BioEnergy has been selected to receive a US Department of Energy Grant of up to $50MM to help commercialize the INEOS Bio technology.
The project has also been awarded a $2.5MM grant from the Governor's Energy Office.
This investment will bring clean tech employment to the Treasure Coast region, creating at least 120 construction jobs over the next two years and 40 to 50 full time jobs in the facility's operations.
