Indian River Neighborhood Association announces endorsements for Indian River County Commission
Citizens of Indian River County numbering over 100 came together at Captain Hiram’s to hear the announcement of endorsed candidates for the upcoming County Commission races. The Indian River Neighborhood Association’s Board of Directors announced their unanimous endorsement of incumbent Peter O’Bryan (District 4) and former Sebastian Council member Dale Simchick (District 2). Both O'Bryan and Simchick are expected to face opponents in their respective Districts in the Republican primary August 24,2010.
“A committee lead by Honey Minuse interviewed candidates running for the County Commission and our Board of Directors came to a unanimous agreement. We based our decision on knowledge of the local issues, personal qualities and good records on what constitutes smart management of residential and comercial development,” said Chairman John Higgs. Higgs then introduced Simchick and O’Bryan, who were met with enthusiastic applause.
“No other county in Florida has the quality of life we have and I am proud to have played a part in that. I will continue to push forward for better quality jobs in Indian River County,” O’Bryan said after accepting the endorsement. O’Bryan was recently recognized for his efforts in diversifying our local economy and jobs development by being awarded the Carolyn K. Eggert Economic Development Award from the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce.
Dale Simchick has over 23 years in law enforcement and recently served on the Sebastian City Council. A strong supporter of environment and wetland preservation, she is also a veteran, having served as a Marine Corporal. “I loved being of service to my country and my community. Now I’d like to be of service to all citizens of Indian River County.”
