Join the IRNA for a Lunch and Learn
If you've walked on the beach lately, you might have seen the work underway. Heavy equipment, sand placement, dune restoration. It's an impressive operation, and it is protecting our coastline for the future.
Join IRNA for lunch on January 28th to hear directly from Quintin Bergman, Coastal Resources Manager with Indian River County's Natural Resources Department. Quintin will walk us through the three-mile Sector 5 beach restoration project. We'll learn about what they're doing, why it matters, and what comes next.
This project is about protecting infrastructure, supporting our local economy, and preserving critical habitat for sea turtles and other marine life. With 153,300 cubic yards of sand and 117,500 native dune plants going in before turtle nesting season, there's a lot happening right in our backyard.
Quintin has been working in coastal conservation since 2016 and has overseen Indian River County's Beach Management and Sea Turtle Conservation Programs since 2019. He'll share insights into how the county manages these complex projects while balancing environmental protection, public access, and storm resilience.
